Astex Therapeutics, the UK-based biotechnology company developing targeted therapies for oncology and virology, and the Multiple Myeloma Research Consortium announced today the initiation of a Phase II clinical trial of the cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor, AT7519, to treat patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma, an incurable blood cancer. Savient Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced it has priced $200 million aggregate principal amount of 4.75% Convertible Senior Notes due 2018 (the "Notes") pursuant to an automatically effective registration statement filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on January 31, 2011. In addition, Savient has granted the underwriters an option to purchase up to an additional $30 million aggregate principal amount of Notes, solely to cover over-allotments.
