New malaria drug starts clinical trials

After decades a new drug against malaria has been developed and first clinical trials of this new investigational drug is soon to begin. Enrolment for the same has already started. This study is to be sponsored by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). It is to take place at the Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, North Carolina.

Faulty enzyme may contribute to malignant brain tumour formation

Around 70 per cent of people with a type of brain tumour - called a low-grade glioma - have a faulty version of an enzyme called IDH1. The mutation is also found in a significant proportion of patients with acute myeloid leukaemia.

Research leads to new potential treatment for Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia

The work of researchers Francesc ViƱals and Mariona Graupera at the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute - Catalan Institute of Oncology - University of Barcelona, together with Dr. Antoni Riera-Mestre, has led to a new potential treatment for Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia or Rendu-Osler Syndrome, a rare disease that affects blood vessels and had no described treatment.

Occupational therapists address the physical, cognitive, psychosocial, sensory, and other aspects of occupational performance in a variety of contexts to support engagement in everyday life activities that affect health, well-being, and quality of life.
