Oncolytics' REOLYSIN/gemcitabine combination Phase 2 pancreatic cancer trial meets primary endpoint

Oncolytics Biotech Inc. today announced preliminary results from a U.S. Phase 2 clinical trial (REO 017) using intravenous administration of REOLYSIN® in combination with gemcitabine (Gemzar®) in patients with advanced pancreatic cancer. The trial is being conducted at the Cancer Therapy & Research Center at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (CTRC).

FDA allows marketing of new EarLens Contact Hearing Device

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today allowed marketing of a new hearing aid that uses a laser diode and direct vibration of the eardrum to amplify sound. The combination of laser light pulses and a custom-fit device component that comes in direct contact with the eardrum is designed to use the patient's own eardrum as a speaker and enables amplification over a wider range of frequencies for some hearing impaired persons.

Occupational therapy services are provided for the purpose of promoting health and wellness and are provided to those who have or are at risk for developing an illness, injury, disease, disorder, condition, impairment, disability, activity limitation, or participation restriction. Occupational therapists address the physical, cognitive, psychosocial, sensory, and other aspects of occupational performance in a variety of contexts to support engagement in everyday life activities that affect health, well-being, and quality of life.
