The Immune Deficiency Foundation (IDF) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the grant "Resources to Assist Investigations in Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases" from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This grant will allow IDF to continue to advance the detection, understanding, diagnosis and treatment of primary immunodeficiency diseases (PIDD) through their program, the United States Immunodeficiency Network (USIDNET).
In a recent study, scientists found that when exposed to another individual's stress, the brain reacts as it does to real stress.
States are anxiously considering the effect of the pending court decision. In Florida, Gov. Rick Scott says his state will comply with the health law if it is upheld. And in California, officials and lawmakers worry over what a ruling could mean for plans to institute consumer protections.
The first malaria elimination programme was in the 1950s and 1960s. Malaria was eliminated from many countries in Asia and the Americas, largely by indoor spraying with insecticide. But the campaign had very little impact in Africa and eventually resources were moved away from malaria control.
