Cardio3 BioSciences, a leader in the discovery and development of engineered cell therapies, today confirmed plans to open a new U.S.-based manufacturing facility in Rochester, Minnesota. The facility will support the Company's current and anticipated manufacturing needs in the United States for both the Phase III clinical trial evaluating lead cardiovascular product candidate C-Cure (CHART-2), and its recently acquired CAR T-cell therapies' portfolio.
Thomas Jessell, PhD, the Claire Tow Professor of Motor Neuron Disorders in the Departments of Neuroscience and of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics at Columbia University, is the recipient of the 2014 Neuroscience Prize of The Gruber Foundation.
"Poor sanitation is causing hundreds of thousands of deaths a year in Africa, where 600 million people - about 70 percent of the population - do not have a safe toilet," and that number is up from 210 million in 1990 and continues to increase as the population grows and people move into poor urban areas, according to a report from WaterAid, titled "Keeping promises: why African leaders need now to deliver on their past water and sanitation commitments," the Guardian reports.
Heart tissue can be imaged in real-time during keyhole procedures using a new optical ultrasound needle developed by researchers at UCL and Queen Mary University of London.
