YM Biosciences underwriters exercise Over-Allotment Option in full

YM BioSciences Inc. announced today that, in connection with its previously announced public offering for total net proceeds before expenses of US $37,650,000, the underwriters have exercised in full their Over-Allotment Option to purchase an additional 3,750,000 common shares of YM at US $1.60 per share for additional net proceeds of US $5,665,000.

FDA issues early communication about Xigris safety

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has announced that it is working with the maker of Xigris (drotrecogin alfa activated), Eli Lilly and Company, to further evaluate the incidence of serious bleeding events and death in patients who receive Xigris, a drug used to treat severe sepsis (a blood stream infection).

Drugmaker Merck to pay $24M to settle Medicaid case

Drugmaker Merck & Co. will pay Massachusetts $24 million to settle a civil lawsuit accusing a former subsidiary of causing the state to overpay pharmacists for a widely used asthma medication. Attorney General Martha Coakley said Tuesday that the deal with Merck and 12 other drugmakers who settled previously enables the state to recover more than $47 million for its Medicaid program.
