Magnesium loss In patients given monoclonal antibodies

97% of patients with cancer treated with monoclonal antibodies—cetuximab, matuzumab, or panitumumab—that target the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) have some degree of magnesium loss (hypomagnesaemia), according to a study published in the May issue of The Lancet Oncology.

Two alcoholic drinks per day not linked with higher risk of atrial fibrillation for women

Women who have up to two alcoholic drinks per day do not appear to be at increased risk of atrial fibrillation (irregular heart beat), but drinking more than that amount is associated with a higher risk, according to a study in the December 3 issue of JAMA, the Journal of the American Medical Association.
