Study identifies 329 instances of potentially inappropriate prescribing in Irish older patients

Research published in the journal Age and Ageing, which studied nursing homes in the Munster region of Ireland, has found that a significant proportion of older patients have either been prescribed a potentially inappropriate medicine or they are not prescribed a medicine that would normally be beneficial.

Researchers use PET/CT for molecular imaging of the heart

For the first time, researchers used positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) for imaging the subcellar function of the heart - from its subcellular function to its morphologic appearance. The results of the study were reported at the Society of Nuclear Medicine's 52nd Annual Meeting June 18–22 in Toronto.

Walking to school promotes better cognitive performance in girls than traveling by vehicles

Cognitive performance of adolescent girls who walk to school is better than that of girls who travel by bus or car. Moreover, cognitive performance is also better in girls who take more than 15 minutes than in those who live closer and have a shorter walk to school.
