Vical prices underwritten common stock public offering

Vical Incorporated today announced the pricing of an underwritten public offering of 15,000,000 shares of its common stock at a price to the public of $2.25 per share. The gross proceeds to us from this offering are expected to be approximately $33.8 million, before deducting underwriting discounts and commissions and other estimated offering expenses payable by us. The offering is expected to close on or about September 29, 2010, subject to customary closing conditions.

China lifts decades-old HIV/AIDS travel ban

Late Tuesday, China's State Council lifted a decades-old restriction that banned foreigners with HIV/AIDS from entering the country, Reuters reports (Buckley, 4/27). The amended rules, which appear on the government website, also lift a travel ban on foreigners with other sexually transmitted diseases and leprosy, and "narrow the travel restriction on people with tuberculosis, to those with an infectious form of the lung disease," according to Bloomberg Businessweek (Randall, 4/28).
