Cappella commences evaluation of the Sideguard Coronary Sidebranch Stent & Delivery System

Cappella, Inc., a medical device company developing dynamic solutions for the treatment of coronary bifurcation disease, announced the start of Sideguard 3, an IVUS/OCT evaluation of the SideguardĀ® Coronary Sidebranch Stent & Delivery System. This is a European multicenter study to evaluate the vascular response to Sideguard in de novo bifurcation lesions of native coronary arteries.

New test can detect early stages of sight loss in age-related macular degeneration

Researchers based at the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) at Moorfields Eye Hospital and UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, received funding from Fight for Sight and the Special Trustees of Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust which has resulted in the design of a new test that can spot the first stages of sight loss in age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

Urocortin 2 improves cardiac output in Phase II study for acute decompensated heart failure

Neurocrine Biosciences, Inc. today announced efficacy and safety results from a Phase II trial of urocortin 2 in 53 patients with acute decompensated heart failure. The UNICORN study was conducted over approximately a two year period by the Cardioendocrine Research Group from the University of Otago in Christchurch, New Zealand and included patients admitted to Christchurch Hospital with acute decompensated heart failure.

Sanford Research scientists develop animal model to study neurodegenerative disease

Sanford Research scientists have developed a pig model for a neurodegenerative disease that could help better treat the disorder and other physiological conditions. The findings of the project are published in Human Molecular Genetics.
