Rapid test shows whether Alzheimer's drugs are hitting their target

A test developed by physician-scientists at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis may help assess more quickly the ability of Alzheimer's drugs to affect one of the possible underlying causes of Alzheimer's disease in humans, accelerating the development of new treatments.

Study projects global lung cancer mortality rates among women to increase by 43% by 2030

The global age-standardized lung cancer mortality rate among women is projected to increase by 43 percent from 2015 to 2030, according to an analysis of data from 52 countries. The global age-standardized breast cancer mortality rate is projected to decrease by 9 percent in the same time frame.

New data on Enanta's lead HCV protease inhibitor to be presented at International Liver Congress

Enanta Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a research and development-focused biotechnology company dedicated to creating small molecule drugs in the infectious disease field, announced today that new Phase 2b data related to ABT-450, Enanta's lead HCV protease inhibitor identified in its ongoing collaboration with AbbVie, as well as new preclinical data on Enanta's proprietary cyclophilin inhibitor, EDP-546, will be presented at the International Liver Congress, which is the 48th Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of the Liver taking place in Amsterdam April 24-28, 2013.

Study indicates personality does not influence career decisions

Researchers from the University of C-diz (UCA) have studied the connection between professional preferences and personality, based on interviews and questionnaires carried out on 735 secondary school students from the province of Cadiz. The results indicate that personality does not have an influence when choosing a professional career.
