American CareSource second-quarter revenues decrease to $16.0 million

American CareSource Holdings Inc. today announced second quarter 2010 revenues of $16.0 million compared to $17.1 million in the corresponding prior year quarter. Net income for the second quarter 2010 was $299,000, or $0.02 per diluted share, compared to $534,000, or $0.01 per diluted share, in the corresponding prior year quarter. Net income for the second quarter 2010 included a federal income tax provision of $137,000, or $0.01 per diluted share, which was not included in net income for the second quarter 2009.

'Traffic light' food labels associated with reduction in calories purchased by hospital employees

A new study by Massachusetts General Hospital investigators released today in JAMA Network Open, a publication of the Journal of the American Medical Association, showed that labeling food choices in a hospital cafeteria with simple "traffic-light" symbols indicating their relative health value was associated with a reduction in calories purchased by employees, and that the dietary changes were sustained over two years.

Four key genes govern growth, multiplication of blood stem cells

Decline in SIDS rate contributes to overall infant mortality reduction in New Jersey

The rate of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), a leading cause of infant mortality, declined in New Jersey by 45 percent between 2000 and 2006, the most recent year for which final SIDS data are available, report Barbara M. Ostfeld, PhD, and Thomas Hegyi, MD, professors in the Department of Pediatrics at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and program director and medical director, respectively, for the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Center of New Jersey.
