A new study provides a detailed description of the varying interactions between SARS-CoV-2 and the host cell ACE-2 receptor.
UC Davis biomedical engineer Prof. Alexander Revzin has developed a "lab on a chip" device for HIV testing. Revzin's microfluidic device uses antibodies to "capture" white blood cells called T cells that are affected by HIV. In addition to physically binding these cells the test detects the types and levels of inflammatory proteins (cytokines) released by the cells.
More than a year after it upheld the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act, the Supreme Court has set the stage for a showdown over the law's requirement that employer health plans cover birth control.
For the first time, researchers have managed to home in on a molecular process in the brain that contributes to the development of schizophrenia.
