Pre-emptive insulin therapy reduces risk of diabetes mellitus after kidney transplantation
Up to 30 percent of all patients develop diabetes mellitus within the first year after a kidney transplantation. This high rate could soon fall rapidly. A Medical University of Vienna research team at Vienna General Hospital's University Department of Internal Medicine III has discovered in the context of a study that pre-emptive insulin therapy drastically reduces this rate.
Bits of plastic in Lean Cuisine meals bring recall
The recall notice was issued Tuesday by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and affects about 10,260 pounds of frozen spaghetti and meatballs. Food maker Nestle, in its statement, says the affected packages were produced in October. The health risk associated with this recall is low, the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service explained. If the product is consumed, there is only a remote probability of adverse health consequences.

TxCell SA, a biotechnology company developing innovative, personalized T cell immunotherapies using antigen specific regulatory T-cells (Ag-Tregs) for severe chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, announces today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Office of Orphan Products Development has granted Orphan Drug Designation (ODD) to TxCell's Col-Treg, a personalized T cell immunotherapy using collagen-II specific regulatory T-cells, for the treatment of chronic non-infectious uveitis.
