CPAP treatment effective in patients with obstructive sleep apnea and hypertension

Among patients with obstructive sleep apnea and hypertension that requires 3 or more medications to control, continuous positive airway pressure treatment for 12 weeks resulted in a decrease in 24-hour average and diastolic blood pressure and an improvement in the nocturnal blood pressure pattern, compared to patients who did not receive CPAP, according to a study appearing in the December 11issue of JAMA.

The bill will increase the penalty for assault when the victim is a registered nurse or a licensed practical nurse engaged in the performance of official duties whom the offender knows or has reasonable cause to believe is a registered nurse or a licensed practical nurse.

State licensure is required in each state in which a PT practices.
