WHO releases report highlighting global underinvestment in mental health care as world commemorates Mental Health Day

The WHO "is calling on governments to increase services for people suffering from mental, neurological and substance use disorders," VOA News reports. The WHO's "Mental Health Atlas 2011," "released to coincide with World Mental Health Day, which falls on October 10, finds countries all over the world spend very little on the treatment of mental illness," according to VOA.

California issues strict rules for health professionals with addiction problems

Study sheds light on lupus's autoimmune origins in precursor cells

In the autoimmune disease systemic lupus erythematosus or SLE, the immune system produces antibodies against parts of the body itself. How cells that produce those antibodies escape the normal "checks and balances" has been unclear, but recent research from Emory University School of Medicine sheds light on a missing link.

The revised rule on insurance coverage of birth control that HHS will formulate, finalize and implement by August 2013 will apply to self-insured entities, as well as policies issued by insurance companies, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius told reporters. The details of the revised birth-control rule-;announced after a furor from Catholic employers who object to funding something to which they are morally opposed-;remain undefined, except that it will require insurance companies to pay for the drugs instead of religious employers.

State licensure is required in each state in which a PT practices.
