Ortho-McNeil terminates collaboration agreement with Arena on APD597 trial program

Arena Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced today that, following the completion of a Phase 1 clinical trial program for APD597 (JNJ-38431055) under its collaboration with Arena, Ortho-McNeil-Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc., has decided not to advance APD597 and has notified Arena that it is terminating the collaboration, effective December 28, 2010.

AMA awards unique CPT code for Cylex' ImmuKnow assay

Cylex Incorporated® announced today that the American Medical Association (AMA) CPT Editorial Panel approved the creation of new CPT coding based on the uniqueness, clinical value and widespread use of ImmuKnow, and the fact that existing CPT codes insufficiently captured all steps and costs of testing.

Reducing levels of the protein tau can prevent seizures and neurological deficits related to Alzheimer's disease

The findings, reported in the journal Science, demonstrate that when tau is removed from mice genetically engineered to simulate Alzheimer's disease, their memory function is retained and they live a normal lifespan. Reducing tau levels also made mice more resistant to epileptic seizures.

State licensure is required in each state in which a PT practices.
