MGH researchers develop bioartificial replacement limbs suitable for transplantation

A team of Massachusetts General Hospital investigators has made the first steps towards development of bioartificial replacement limbs suitable for transplantation. In their report, which has been published online in the journal Biomaterials, the researchers describe using an experimental approach previously used to build bioartificial organs to engineer rat forelimbs with functioning vascular and muscle tissue.

Overall time spent on social media does not increase anxiety or depression in teenagers

The amount of time teenagers spend on social networking sites has risen 62.5 percent since 2012 and continues to grow. Just last year, the average time teenagers spent on social media was estimated as 2.6 hours per day. Critics have claimed that more screen time is increasing depression and anxiety in teenagers.

NovaBay Pharmaceuticals issued Notice of Allowance for broad portfolio of anti-infective compounds

NovaBay Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced today that it has received a Notice of Allowance from the United States Patent and Trademark Office on a patent application for a broad portfolio of anti-infective compounds, including NVC-612. The patent will broaden protection for NovaBay's first-in-class Aganocide family of compounds, which are designed to fight infections without causing drug resistance.

State licensure is required in each state in which a PT practices.
