$235 million announced for expansion of biotech sector at CSL

A $235 million expansion of Australia's largest biotech facility in Melbourne is planned and this is expected to create hundreds of jobs. CSL biopharmaceutical research complex in Broadmeadows, in the north of Melbourne will be receiving this financial aid from both the State as well as Federal government over a five year investment plan. This will create an estimated 320 temporary construction jobs and later 333 new highly-skilled medical research openings by 2018.

Genomic analysis may one day be a primary diagnostic tool for physicians deciding on a course of treatment for trauma

The researchers showed that state-of-the-art techniques for rapidly analyzing changes in activity of all human genes will likely produce useful insights into the health of critically ill patients. The findings, which are available online and will be published in the March 29 issue of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, make it possible for physicians to begin answering important questions about critical care through genomic analysis.

EC grants CE mark to InSightec's ExAblate Neuro ultrasound system

InSightec Ltd. announced that its transcranial focused ultrasound system, ExAblate Neuro, has been awarded the European CE mark for the treatment of neurological disorders in the brain including essential tremor, Parkinson's disease and neuropathic pain.
