Supreme Court ruling would affect around 10,000 Reglan-metoclopramide lawsuits

The U.S. Supreme Court is expected to rule shortly on whether generic drug companies must adequately warn doctors about new or revised risks to patients who have taken the drugs they make. (Pliva v Mensing No. 09-993, Actavis v Mensing No.08-3850 and Actavis v Demahy No. 09-1501) All three cases involve patients who took metoclopramide, the generic version of the brand-name drug Reglan.

Results from Intarcia's two phase 3 clinical trials of ITCA 650 to be presented at ADA's Scientific Session

Intarcia Therapeutics, Inc. today announced the presentation of results from its first two phase 3 clinical trials (FREEDOM-1 and FREEDOM-1 HBL) of its late-stage investigational candidate ITCA 650 (exenatide delivered continuously via a small matchstick-size subcutaneous osmotic mini-pump just once or twice yearly) at the 75th Scientific Sessions of the American Diabetes Association.

Study suggests cigarette smoking increases likelihood of death by prostate cancer

Although cure rates for prostate cancer patients who smoke cigarettes are about the same as patients who do not smoke, researchers have found that smokers were more likely to die of other causes than non-smokers, according to a new study in the March 15, 2004, issue of the International Journal of Radiation Oncology•Biology•Physics, the official journal of ASTRO, the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology.

Study looks at phantom limb syndrome
