KU professor to create patient-friendly lung cancer treatment

A Kansas State University professor is trying to create a patient-friendly treatment to help the more than 220,000 people who are diagnosed with lung cancer each year.

High levels of anti-aging hormone may increase cancer mortality in older men

According to a new study accepted for publication in The Endocrine Society's Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism (JCEM), older men with high levels of the hormone IGF-I (insulin-like growth factor 1) are at increased risk of cancer death, independent of age, lifestyle and cancer history.

Fecal transplant procedures performed at Sinai Hospital

Sudhir Dutta, M.D., head of the Division of Gastroenterology at Sinai Hospital, performed fecal transplant procedures for two patients with severe clostridium difficile (C. difficile) colitis that did not respond to routine antibiotic and other treatments. C. difficile causes symptoms ranging from mild diarrhea to more serious, sometimes life threatening colon inflammation.
