Study reveals high cholestrol as a cause of cardiac arrhythmias

The research team has just published the important discovery about the causes of cardiac arrhythmias (abnormal heartbeats) in one of the world's leading scientific journals.

GenVec announces one for ten reverse stock split

Today GenVec, Inc. announced that it will implement a one for ten reverse stock split of the Company's outstanding shares of common stock. The reverse stock split will be effective with respect to stockholders of record at the close of business on Monday, April 18, 2011, and trading of the Company's common stock on the NASDAQ Capital Market will begin on a split-adjusted basis at the opening of trading on Tuesday, April 19, 2011.

Online medical pricing takes on new importance in struggling economy

"Consumers are increasingly turning to the Web to compare medical fees as the economy and less generous health benefits squeeze household budgets," The Associated Press reports. Their efforts are aided in many states by laws that require online posting of medical fees. "More than 30 states have passed laws that require online publication of medical fees by hospitals and other health care providers," according to the AP.

Sports Authority, MRA partner to educate public about melanoma

Sports Authority, one of the nation's largest full-line sporting goods retailers, today announced that they have partnered with the Melanoma Research Alliance, the largest private funder of melanoma research, to inform the public about this deadly form of skin cancer and to raise funds to support studies aimed at its treatment and cure. This is the fourth consecutive year Sports Authority has participated in and supported the effort.
