According to health experts half of Americans drink a soda or sugary beverage each day. One in 20 people drinks the equivalent of more than four cans of soda each day. This is in spite of the health officials' recommendation to limit sweetened beverages to less than half a can.
Professor David Nutt, previously chairman of the United Kingdom's Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs and now teaching at Imperial College, believes that having a hangover after a an episode of binge drinking would soon be a thing of the past. A new synthetic alcohol called "alcosynth" could provide the pleasures of alcohol consumption without the harmful side effects.
The cost-effectiveness of using complementary treatments in the United Kingdom has been the subject of much speculation and controversy.
Although state tax collections are picking up after several brutal years, a new survey by the National Governors Association and the National Association of State Budget Officers found that states still expect to collect less tax revenue and spend less money in the coming fiscal year than they did before the Great Recession began.
