A.P. Pharma resubmits APF530 NDA with FDA for prevention of CINV

A.P. Pharma, Inc., a specialty pharmaceutical company, today announced that it has resubmitted its New Drug Application (NDA) to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its lead product candidate, APF530, for the prevention of acute- and delayed-onset chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV).

New Risk Stratification Index allows important clinical outcomes

Research published in the November issue of Anesthesiology describes development of a new Risk Stratification Index (RSI) that allows important clinical outcomes such as length-of-stay and mortality for surgical patients to be accurately compared among hospitals using only publically available billing data. The new risk stratification system is more accurate than existing outcomes measurements such as the Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI) and the investigators have made it freely available.

Adverse childhood experiences may contribute to poor health in adults with lupus

Adults with lupus who report having had adverse childhood experiences, such as abuse, neglect and household challenges, report higher disease activity, depression and poorer overall health compared to those without such experiences, according to a study by researchers at UC San Francisco.
