InspireMD presents long-term data of MGuard stent technology at the ICI

InspireMD, developer of the novel MGuard(TM), a combination of a coronary stent merged with an embolic protection specifically designed for Acute MI (AMI) patients, received significant exposure at the ICI, Innovations in Interventional Cardiology, meeting this week in Tel-Aviv. InspireMD presented long-term data, including two years of clinical follow-up, to support the Company's MGuard stent technology.

AVRF and UPEI collaboration awarded Innovation PEI Pilot and Discovery Fund grant

Atlanta Vascular Research Foundation (AVRF), together with its collaborators at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), has been awarded an Innovation PEI Pilot and Discovery Fund grant by Innovation PEI. The grant is to continue research and development in combining nutraceuticals to magnify clinical benefits for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. The funding from this grant is $25,000.

New discovery may lead to natural products for preventing dental caries

A new discovery may one day lead to natural anti­cavity products, researchers report. The scientists from West China School of Stomatology and Academic Centre for Dentistry Amsterdam have figured out the main active ingredient of Galla Chinensis, a natural herb, and further improved its anti-caries efficacy. The finding is published in The Open Dentistry Journal.

Scientists complete genetic blueprints for 13 different strains of Lyme disease bacteria

Scientists supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) have determined the complete genetic blueprints for 13 different strains of Borrelia burgdorferi, the bacteria that cause Lyme disease. The achievement should lead to a better understanding of how genetic variations among strains may result in different courses of illness in people with Lyme disease, the most common tickborne disease in North America. The wealth of new genetic data will also help scientists develop improved ways to diagnose, treat and prevent Lyme disease.

Last night at the second annual Delaware Bio Winterfest, Delaware BioScience Association provided the Junior Achievement of Delaware with financial support of $6555.00 to aid in the outfitting of the new Innovation hub.
