PinnacleHealth's new technology helps protect patients from risk of stroke during TAVR

PinnacleHealth is the first hospital in Pennsylvania and one of the first 10 in the country to introduce new technology shown to help protect patients from the risk of stroke during transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR).

Duration of ibuprofen use may reduce risk of bladder cancer in northern New England patients

Dartmouth researchers have found that duration of ibuprofen use was associated with a reduced risk of bladder cancer in patients in northern New England, which has a high mortality rate of this disease. In a 2012 collaborative project with the National Cancer Institute, Margaret Karagas, PhD, co-director, Cancer Epidemiology & Chemoprevention program at Norris Cotton Cancer Center, and Professor of Community and Family Medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, and Richard Waddell, D.Sc, Research Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine, looked for connections between ibuprofen use and bladder cancer.

Columbia Laboratories to sell progesterone related assets and 11.2M shares to Watson Pharmaceuticals

Columbia Laboratories, Inc. has entered into a definitive agreement to sell substantially all of its progesterone related assets and 11.2 million shares of common stock to Watson Pharmaceuticals, Inc. for a $47 million upfront payment plus royalties of 10 to 20 percent of annual net sales of certain progesterone products.
