New research shows how old people are when they first develop Parkinson's disease is one of many clues in how long they'll survive with the disease. The research is published in the October 5, 2010, print issue of Neurology, the medical journal of the American Academy of Neurology.

At last night's Annual Prostate Cancer Awareness and Education Dinner, the American Cancer Society awarded Dr. David B. Samadi, world-leader in prostate cancer treatment and robotic prostate surgery, with the 2012 Community Partner Award. Through robotic surgery excellence, Dr. Samadi has successfully cured more than 4,000 men of prostate cancer.
Research published today in the New England Journal of Medicine by scientists at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research (LICR) and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) showed that combining targeted radiation therapy with immunotherapy (ipilimumab), fostered a strong immune response and a favorable clinical outcome in a patient with melanoma, the most dangerous form of skin cancer.
The preoperative shoulder CT scan is entered into special software, which then generates a 3D model of the patient's anatomy. Physicians use the model to examine the patient's anatomy, plan incision points, mark the points for the anchor pins, and adjust the prosthetic device.
