CAMH presents new Microvolt T-wave Alternans testing data at Heart Rhythm Society meeting

Boehringer Ingelheim disappointed with FDA Advisory Committee recommendations on flibanserin NDA for HSDD

The Reproductive Health Drugs Advisory Committee met today to discuss the new drug application (NDA) for flibanserin 100 mg as a treatment for Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD) in pre-menopausal women. The advisory committee was convened by and makes recommendations to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The FDA will consider the committee's advice as part of its final assessment of the NDA.

Many companies seem conflicted by a key part of the recent Health Reform legislation, the CLASS Act, which will offer a form of long term care insurance for working people who may become disabled. "CLASS" stands for Community Living Assistance Services and Supports; and the program, a legacy of the late Senator Edward Kennedy, is intended to offer new choice and security for millions now at risk. Zinc acetate lozenges may provide 3-fold increase in recovery rate from common cold

According to a meta-analysis of three randomized controlled trials published in Open Forum Infectious Diseases, zinc acetate lozenges may increase the rate of recovery from the common cold three fold. On the fifth day, 70% of the zinc lozenge patients had recovered compared with 27% of the placebo patients.
