Researchers develop new breast cancer screening technique that can reduce false positives

A joint BYU-Utah research team is developing a new breast cancer screening technique that has the potential to reduce false positives, and, possibly, minimize the need for invasive biopsies.

High radon levels in Extremadura

Researchers at the University of Extremadura have measured levels of the radioactive gas radon in 130 workplaces in the Spanish region of Extremadura. The results revealed that 13% of shops, schools, offices, museums and other buildings exceeded EU recommended levels. The record for the highest level of radon is held by a cave in the north of Cáceres in Western Spain.

Research by the American Academy of Family Physicians demonstrates that vulvar cancer occurs most frequently in women age 65 to 75 years of age. Thirty percent of patients with vulvar cancer are age 70 or older, and the rate increases with age, reaching a peak of 20 per 100,000 women by 75 years of age.
