Leading breast cancer experts and survivors will present at this weekend's Body, Mind, Spirit 2010: National Conference for Young Women Living with Breast Cancer. Presented by the Canadian Breast Cancer Network and co-presenter the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, this conference hosts young women with breast cancer to educate them in all aspects of their cancer journey.
The American College of Rheumatology Research and Education Foundation today announced it has raised nearly $28 million, and funded $24 million, in RA research through its Within Our Reach: Finding a Cure for Rheumatoid Arthritis campaign - putting the Foundation two million from its initial $30 million goal.
Mutations in the ARID1A gene are present in more than 50% of ovarian clear cell carcinomas (OCCC), for which effective treatments are lacking. Scientists at The Wistar Institute discovered that loss of ARID1A function enhances a cellular stress response pathway that promotes survival of cancer cells, which become sensitive to pharmacological inhibition of this pathway. These findings were published online in Cancer Research, a journal of the American Association for Cancer Research, and point to a new therapeutic opportunity for this type of ovarian cancer for which new solutions are urgently needed.
