TB vaccine may help prevent multiple sclerosis

A vaccine used to prevent tuberculosis in other parts of the world may help prevent multiple sclerosis in people who show the beginning signs of the disease, according to a new study published in the December 4, 2013, online issue of Neurology, the medical journal of the American Academy of Neurology.

TearLab and AMO Canada enter cooperative marketing agreement

TearLab Corporation today announced that it has entered into a cooperative marketing agreement with Abbott Medical Optics Inc.'s subsidiary, AMO Canada Company. Under the agreement, AMO Canada's sales force will directly sell the TearLabā„¢ Osmolarity System in Canada while TearLab will help promote AMO Canada's products for the relief of dry eye symptoms, including BlinkĀ® Moisturizing Eye Drops. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Binge drinkers happier with their college social experience

Drug prevents onset of cognitive and cellular effects in mouse model of Alzheimer's disease

In a novel animal study design that mimicked human clinical trials, researchers at University of California, San Diego School of Medicine report that long-term treatment using a small molecule drug that reduces activity of the brain's stress circuitry significantly reduces Alzheimer's disease (AD) neuropathology and prevents onset of cognitive impairment in a mouse model of the neurodegenerative condition.
