Asia-Pacific Osteoporosis Meeting focuses on new strategies in the battle against osteoporosis

Today, one of the largest clinical bone events in the Asia-Pacific region opened at the Hong Kong Conference and Exhibition Centre, drawing close to 850 international delegates from over 60 countries. A team of scientists from the University of Granada, the Biohealth Research Institute in Granada, the city's San Cecilio Clinical Hospital, and the Centre for Biomedical Research in Epidemiology and Public Health has found that 9 out of 10 pairs of socks for babies and children from 0-4 years old contain traces of bisphenol A and parabens.

Declined consent affects organ donation rates

Research published today in the British Journal of Anaesthesia suggests that organ donation rates in the UK could be increased if the current issues affecting declined consent are improved. At present, only 30% of the UK population are registered on the NHS Organ Donor Register (ODR). From 2003 to 2005, the overall consent rate for donation after brain death (DBD) was 59%.
