Deaths from heart disease peak in December and January, US database reveals

'Tis the season… for a heart attack? According to Dr. Keith Churchwell, associate director of the Vanderbilt Heart and Vascular Institute at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, a US database of 53 million deaths occurring between 1973 and 2001 reveals that deaths from heart disease peak in December and January, with spikes on Christmas and New Year's Day.

MRG's 2010 report on European markets for heart valve devices

According to Millennium Research Group (MRG), the global authority on medical technology market intelligence, national registry data presented at last month's euroPCR will drive adoption of transcatheter aortic valve implantation, as illustrated in MRG's new European Markets for Heart Valve Devices 2010 report. New funding made available to tackle common cause of food poisoning in the UK

Up to £2 Million is being made available today to tackle the most common cause of food poisoning in the UK - Campylobacter. Three of the UK's main public funders of food safety research have come together to invite research proposals to find out more about the organism and how best to control it. Campylobacter species are responsible for more than 300,000 cases of food poisoning a year in England and Wales.
