SAIC-F selects SAIC-F selects Precision Antibody to provide characterization for reference antibody resource development

Precision Antibody announced today its selection by Science Applications International Corporation-Frederick to provide antibody and antigen characterization, including surface plasmon resonance analysis, for the National Cancer Institute's "Clinical Proteomic Technologies for Cancer" initiative. A goal of the CPTC is to develop a standardized resource of very high-quality, renewable reference antibodies generated against cancer-related proteins. The antibodies will be made available to proteomics researchers, along with characterization data and other information intended to support replication and standardization.

Researchers say that receiving cancer radiation therapy late in the day may minimize hair loss

Discovering that mouse hair has a circadian clock - a 24-hour cycle of growth followed by restorative repair - researchers suspect that hair loss in humans from toxic cancer radiotherapy and chemotherapy might be minimized if these treatments are given late in the day.

Uroplasty broadens neuromodulation patent portfolio

Uroplasty, Inc., a medical device company that develops, manufactures and markets innovative proprietary products for the treatment of voiding dysfunctions, announced today the issuance of United States Patent No. 7,729,772 which covers a method for using an implantable neuromodulation system in the treatment of urinary incontinence by neuromodulation or stimulation of the tibial nerve. The neuromodulation system includes a portable, external transmitter and a receiver implanted subcutaneously in the leg or ankle near the tibial nerve.

Study holds implications for gene therapy and stem cell biology
