ULURU Inc., a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on the development of a portfolio of wound management and oral care products, today announced the signing of a definitive agreement to sell an aggregate of 4,079,539 shares of its common stock at a price per share of $0.38 to a group of European investors, which is expected to result in gross proceeds of $1,550,225.

New drug research, incidence rates and Pope's comments brighten AIDS outlook

The Associated Press: "In the nearly 30 years the AIDS epidemic has raged, there has never been a more hopeful day than this. Three striking developments took place Tuesday: U.N. officials said new HIV cases are dropping dramatically worldwide. A study showed that a daily pill already on pharmacy shelves could help prevent new infections in gay men. And the pope opened the way for the use of condoms to prevent AIDS" (Marchione, 11/23).

22.5% implanted defibrillators are unnecessary: Study

According to a new study nearly 20% of American patients who receive an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) may not need it. These ICDs when unnecessary could put the patients at higher risk of death and serious complications than patients who meet the criteria for the life-saving device say authors of the study published in the Jan. 5 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association.

Green tea component reduces leukemia cells in patients with CLL

An extract of green tea appears to have clinical activity with low toxicity in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) patients who used it in a phase II clinical trial, say researchers at Mayo Clinic.
