University of Cincinnati research published in the Sept. 14, 2011, advance online edition of the New England Journal of Medicine shows that patients with hepatitis C who took a combination medication-a telaprevir-based regimen that is commonly used to treat the illness-for 24 weeks were cured.

Stem cell transplantation prevents decrease in heart function associated with DMD

Researchers have shown that transplanting stem cells derived from normal mouse blood vessels into the hearts of mice that model the pathology associated with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) prevents the decrease in heart function associated with DMD.

CPEX Pharmaceuticals Inc. today reported preliminary results related to its Phase 2a proof-of-concept clinical trial of the Company's nasal insulin product, Nasulin™. The study was designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Nasulin versus placebo over a 6-week treatment period in subjects with Type 2 diabetes who were being treated with basal insulin and oral anti-diabetes agents.
