Representatives of the German Centre for Neurodegenerative Diseases, the UK Medical Research Council and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research today signed a cooperation agreement that aims to establish and apply harmonised guidelines and technologies for research on neurodegenerative diseases.
TearScience, a privately-held medical device company, today announced the completion of $44.5 million of Series C funding from new investors Essex Woodlands Health Ventures, Investor Growth Capital and General Catalyst. The company's existing investors, De Novo Ventures, Spray Ventures and Quaker Bio Ventures completed the round. The funding will allow TearScience to commercialize its devices designed for use by eye care professionals to diagnose and treat the most common form of chronic dry eye disease.

As the only formulation of Leucine currently with FDA acknowledged GRAS status, Ajinomoto's AjiGRAS-Leucine is the first amino acid to be allowed as an ingredient for use in conventional foods like non-milk and milk based meal replacements, sports and isotonic beverages, vitamin enhanced waters, and meal replacement bars, at levels of 0.5 to 3 grams per serving.
A new head-mounted display system lets anesthesiologists keep an eye on critical monitoring data during surgery—without having to turn their attention away from the patient, reports a study in the April issue of Anesthesia & Analgesia, official journal of the International Anesthesia Research Society.
