Smokers with systemic lupus erythematosus at greater risk of skin damage and rashes

As if there weren't enough reasons to stop smoking, a team of researchers at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) have just found another. A study led by Dr. Christian A Pineau, Co-Director of the Lupus and Vasculitis clinic at the MUHC, has clearly linked skin damage and rashes to smoking in people with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The study was published in a recent issue of the Journal of Rheumatology.

New screening test detects 20 types of cancer

Researchers from the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute have developed a new blood test that would accurately determine the presence of several types of cancers. The results of their multi-centre clinical trial to prove the effectiveness of their test was presented by the researchers at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2019 Congress in Barcelona, Spain, on the 28th of September 2019.

Pfizer's axitinib Phase 3 trial in advanced renal cell carcinoma meets primary endpoints

Pfizer Inc. today announced data from the pivotal Phase 3 AXIS 1032 trial, showing that in patients with previously treated advanced renal cell carcinoma, axitinib significantly extended progression-free survival at the 47th Annual American Society of Clinical Oncology meeting in Chicago from June 3-7, 2011.

Workforce Alliance receives $134,790 grant to fund workforce training program

Workforce Alliance was awarded a $134,790 grant by the State of Florida to fund a workforce training program aimed at meeting the high need for skilled health care workers in Palm Beach County.
