A naturally occurring protein has been discovered that shows promise as a biocontrol weapon against schistosomiasis, one of the world's most prevalent parasitic diseases, Oregon State University researchers reported today in a new study.
The Miami office of global architecture and design firm, Perkins+Will, recently completed a major healthcare, education and research project, the University of Florida's Clinical and Translational Research Building.
Researchers at LSTM have shown that under certain circumstances evolution can be highly predictable, especially in terms of how creatures become resistant to dangerous toxins.
The number of patients dying from upper gastrointestinal bleeding has decreased over the past two decades, a result researchers attribute to the advances in medical and endoscopic therapies introduced over the past 20 years, according to a report unveiled today at the American College of Gastroenterology's (ACG) 77th Annual Scientific meeting in Las Vegas.
Researchers in the Campbell Clinic Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tennessee, presented a paper that indicates a new polymer under study for applications in joint reconstruction can significantly reduce up to seven times the harmful chemicals formed as a result of the presence of wear particle debris in the body.
