A new report demonstrates that clinical and genetic factors affecting dose requirements for warfarin vary by race. The study, published online today in Blood, the Journal of the American Society of Hematology, proposes race-specific equations to help clinicians better calculate warfarin dosage.
Hematopoietic stem cells are now routinely used to treat patients with cancers and other disorders of the blood and immune systems, but researchers knew little about the progenitor cells that give rise to them during embryonic development.
The pharmaceutical industry must ensure an improved record of delivery by providing high quality, cost effective solutions to well defined unmet needs. This can be achieved through strategic collaborations that strengthen disease knowledge and provide improved tools to strengthen therapeutic target validation and to monitor therapeutic efficacy, says Andy Dray, Chief Scientist at AstraZeneca.
