Merck, known as MSD outside the United States and Canada, announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently approved ISENTRESS for oral suspension, a new pediatric formulation of Merck's integrase inhibitor. With this approval, ISENTRESS is now indicated in combination with other antiretroviral agents for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in patients four weeks of age and older.
When playing sports that involve rapid bursts, twists, and movements, a variety of groin injuries, including hernias, can occur. No matter how strong or flexible someone is, their lower abdominal wall can still weaken because of constant or particularly straining rapid movement.
Decision Resources, one of the world's leading research and advisory firms focusing on pharmaceutical and healthcare issues, finds that tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha inhibitors will continue to dominate first- and second-line biologic therapy for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis in the United States through 2011, but the more established branded drugs such as, Centocor Ortho Biotech's Remicade, Abbott's Humira and Amgen/Wyeth's Enbrel, in this class will face competition from newer entrants.
"Each year, the United States spends more than $1.5 billion feeding starving people overseas," columnist Farah Stockman writes in a Boston Globe opinion piece. "But our charity comes with a catch: The food has to be bought in America, and much of it must be shipped on American ships," she continues, adding, "Researchers estimate that buying food closer to where needy people are costs about half as much."
Women that underwent extreme physical training and completed a transantarctic expedition did not show any more negative health effects than would be expected in men, according to a study presented at the Society for Endocrinology annual conference in Glasgow.
