All-terrain vehicles (ATVs) were introduced in this country in the 1970s. Currently, there are approximately 9.5 million ATVs in use and more than 150,000 reported ATV-related injuries in this country annually. The rapid rise in ATV-related injuries is due to increased use and also to the production of larger, faster, and more powerful vehicles, according to a review article that was recently published in the April issue of the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (JAAOS).

Researcher describes a new approach to study the process of wound healing

Our bodies frequently heal wounds, like a cut or a scrape, on their own. However patients with diabetes, vascular disease, and skin disorders, sometimes have difficulty healing.

Study reveals new target to halt tumor growth

Researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison have discovered that a protein called Munc13-4 helps cancer cells secrete large numbers of exosomes-;tiny, membrane-bound packages containing proteins and RNAs that stimulate tumor progression.

New GARDASIL data against Human Papillomavirus presented at EUROGIN conference

A real-world study evaluating the safety of GARDASIL among 189,629 females in California found no serious adverse events related to vaccination, no safety signals for any health event resulting in an emergency room visit or hospitalization and no safety signals associated with pre-specified autoimmune conditions or pregnancy outcomes.
