Researchers at the University of Minnesota have identified a protein that enables viruses such as HIV to infect cells and spread through the body.
The PredictND project, started by European research organisations, aims at developing and validating new procedures for the earlier diagnosis of memory disorders and for detecting individuals at high risk of developing memory disorders. Millions of Europeans who are at risk for experiencing any kind of memory loss would benefit from such a solution.
According to the AHA, the physicians who care for these at-risk youth face an unexpected obstacle - their parents. The AHA finds "low levels of parental compliance with both cholesterol screening and intervention."
Complementary and alternative medicine is becoming a popular treatment for a variety of conditions, with national data showing it is used by about 12 percent of children.
Mehran Mozaffari Kermani, a faculty member at Rochester Institute of Technology, recently received a grant to design security measures for computing systems that will protect wearable and implanted medical devices such as pacemakers from cyberattacks.
