The Lancet Oncology has published results from the largest ever trial of a single melanoma treatment. The open label safety study was conducted to assess the tolerability of Zelboraf (vemurafenib), and featured 3,222 patients from across 44 countries.1 246 of these patients were from the UK.

Study finds 70% increase in type 1 diabetes among very young Philadelphian children

Over the past two decades, the incidence of type 1 diabetes in very young children under age 5 has increased by 70 percent in the city of Philadelphia, according to research from a University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing researcher who currently maintains the only US registry of diabetes in children that has collected data continuously since 1985.

Arrhythmia Alliance launches 'Know Your Pulse' global awareness campaign on World Heart Rhythm Week

Arrhythmia Alliance, the Heart Rhythm Charity, announced today the results of a survey conducted in Europe that showed a large number of respondents ignore basic measures to check for potential cardiac arrhythmias, or heart rhythm disorders. To raise awareness of the importance of pulse checking and to inform people about how to take their pulse, the Arrhythmia Alliance will open 2010 World Heart Rhythm Week (7-13 June) with the launch of the global awareness campaign 'Know Your Pulse'.
