An international team led by the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Md., has developed a prototype of the first fully integrated prosthetic arm that can be controlled naturally and provide sensory feedback, and allows for eight degrees of Freedom - a level of control far beyond the current state of the art for prosthetic limbs.
This week Global Health Action has published "A Declaration on Mental Health in Africa: moving to implementation". The 25 original signatories, all leaders within global and mental health from Africa and other nations, call upon citizens and the mental health care community to add their names to an online petition to show support for the actions outlined.
Boston researchers have reported a new method for detecting subtle brain changes in people who have no memory problems but who may already be in the earliest stages of Alzheimer's disease.
The question of using single-set vs. multiple-set training remains difficult to solve even after years of extensive research. The final vote has yet to be determined due to the vast number of variables involved such as: equipment usage, intensity, muscle groups studied, age of participants, beginning fitness level, and duration of the study.
