Among patients hospitalized for acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, those who received antibiotics in the first 2 hospital days had improved outcomes, such as a lower likelihood of mechanical ventilation and fewer readmissions, compared to patients who received antibiotics later or not at all, according to a study in the May 26 issue of JAMA.
The prion diseases were originally discovered by Dr Gajdusek and Dr Gibbs. The first disease discovered was Kuru, which was affecting native tribes in the Papua New Guinea highlands in the 1950s.
At the 2013 American Society of Hematology meeting in Dec. 2013, James Kochenderfer, M.D., investigator in the Experimental Transplantation and Immunology Branch, NCI, presented findings from two clinical trials evaluating the use of genetically modified immune system T cells as cancer therapy.
BHR Pharma, LLC (BHR) announced today that it has filed an Investigational New Drug (IND) application with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its proprietary BHR-100 intravenous progesterone infusion product.
