A unique new study from the Swedish medical university Karolinska Institute (KI) suggests that the attitude of families and the public have little impact on if adults decide to have sex with persons of the same or the opposite sex. Instead, hereditary factors and the individual's unique experiences have the strongest influence on our choice of sexual partners.
BioElectronics Corp. In the current issue of Family Medicine and Community Health (Volume 6,Number 3, 2018, pp.115-123, researchers Bishwajit Ghose and Sanni Yaya of the Faculty of Social Sciences, School of International Development and Global Studies University of Ottawa, Ottawa, ON, Canada, describe how this study is the first to assess the effect of socioeconomic status on blood pressure-controlling behavior among adult women with hypertension in Ghana.
A CT scan can mean the difference between an accurate and a wrong diagnosis, timely and delayed treatment and, in some cases, life and death. But because CT scans and other tests that use X-ray technology expose the body to often large doses of radiation, their unnecessary, repeated and excessive use may increase cancer risk, especially in children.
Routine physiotherapy for mild to moderate low back pain is no more effective than a single advice session with a physiotherapist, finds a study in this week's BMJ.
