The wail of a colicky baby can send parents into near panic and cause sleepless nights for all. Now, two innovative research studies are being conducted at the new UT Physicians Colic Clinic at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) to help both crying babies and their worried parents.
Outliving one's resources and falling into poverty is an increasingly common experience among today's senior citizens, according to a new report produced jointly by the Heller School's Institute on Assets and Social Policy and the public policy research and advocacy organization Demos.
In one of the big NHS blunders, nearly 800,000 people who have pledged one or more of their organs for donation may have had their preferences of which organ/s recorded incorrectly for the past 10 years. There are nearly 17 million donors who consent to give all their organs. However some have preferences and withhold consent for some organs like eyes, skin or heart etc. Some had also expressed their wish that their body tissue should not be used in research after their death. This huge error came to public notice in 2009 when the NHS Blood and Transplant started sending out mails to potential donors to check their preferences. Many people wrote back that the information in the records were not right.
The future of drug discovery and development at the bench and in the boardroom will be highlighted at a major international pharmacology conference in London, Tuesday 13 to Thursday 15 December.
American Medical Systems, a leading provider of world-class devices and therapies for both male and female pelvic health, today announced the results of a 12-month single-arm, prospective multi-center study of the ElevateĀ® Apical and Posterior Prolapse Repair System. The pelvic organ prolapse quantification exam (POP-Q), used to quantify, describe, and stage pelvic support, was implemented in the study and concluded efficacy rates of Stage 1 or less to be 89.2% for Apical and 91.7% for Posterior.
