Diamyd completed screening for US Phase III study in type 1 diabetes. The screening of patients for the US Phase III study, DiaPrevent, was completed, ending the recruitment campaign. More than 310 recently diagnosed type 1 diabetes patients between 10 and 20 years of age had, at the completion of screening, been enrolled in the study and received their first injection of the antigen-based therapy Diamyd® or placebo.
A survey by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) in the UK has revealed that while a third of 16-24-year olds send an average of 20 or more texts a day, one in six get pains in their hands when texting and others felt aches and pains in their wrists, arms, necks and shoulders.
Use of most electronic media is not associated with headaches, at least not in adolescents. A study of 1025 13-17 year olds, published in the open access journal BMC Neurology, found no association between the use of computer games, mobile phones or television and the occurrence of headaches or migraines.
The Skoll World Forum and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation's "Impatient Optimists" blog have co-produced a blog series highlighting key challenges in the global response moving forward and examining how the international community can overcome these challenges.
