Prior neuroimaging studies have shown alcoholism-related damage to the frontal lobes and cerebellum.
University at Buffalo researchers received an $880,000 grant to help quicken the development of generic equivalents of contraceptives and other drugs delivered vaginally or to the uterus, such as by intrauterine devices
For the first time, two advanced biophotonic technologies – near-infrared time-resolved spectroscopy (TRS) and diffuse correlation spectroscopy (DCS) – have been combined and the already tested prototypes were extended to the level of demonstrators.
The American Society of Bariatric Physicians is concerned that the FDA recently rejected the weight-loss drug Contrave, contradicting the FDA advisory panel's recommendation for approval. The rejection of Contrave marks the third weight-loss drug to be rejected by the FDA in the past six months.
This study demonstrates that over 6 weeks of treatment, patients with melancholic depression and medical comorbidity (MC) (specifically cardiovascular or endocrinological MC) had poorer treatment response and a worse functional outcome as opposed to their counterparts without MC. Interestingly, these effects were not related to various antidepressant treatment regimens.
